Free to read, free to publish

Replication Research is a Diamond Open Access Journal with strict and entirely transparent quality control and no article processing charges. We publish close and conceptual replications as well as reproductions.

Many Types of Verification

Re-analyses, reproductions, replications, reappraisals: the repeated testing of previously published claims is the foundation for cumulative research. We are here to support this. If you seek to publish research such as reproductions (same data) or replications (different data) with rigorous and transparent quality assurance (open and persistent peer review, reproducibility check) in an open and accessible way, we are here for you. These can, for example, be robustness reproductions of previous results, replications with or without extensions, or any studies that are about the topic of re-doing research.

Valuing high-quality replication research and interdisciplinary discussions

Due to replication research gaining momentum across fields such as psychology, economics, linguistics, sociology, biostatistics, earth science, humanities, and medicine, new methods to conduct and assess replications are being developed. Currently, researchers work in parallel and thus do double work. Replication Research is a place where expertise from different fields comes together in form of theory papers to shape the gold standard for transdisciplinary replication research.

Fields from which Replication Research welcomes submissions (conceptual, qualitative and quantitative):
  • Digital Humanities
  • Educational Sciences
  • Experimental Philosophy
  • Geoscience
  • Linguistics
  • Management Sciences
  • Marketing
  • Medicine
  • Mental health
  • Metascience
  • Neuroimaging
  • Neuroscience
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods

If you seek to publish a replication from economics, please submit it to our partner journal JCRE (Journal of Comments and Replications in Economics).

Preprint-Review Friendly

R2 cooperates with numerous preprint review services such as Peer Community in, PREreview, and MetaRoR and is a forming member of the PRC Alliance. That means, already reviewed manuscripts may not require reviews by two additional reviewers and manuscripts may be eligible to skip the peer review stage entirely if they already have a PCI recommendation. For more information, please see the submission guidelines' section on PRC-friendliness.

Researcher-led

Replication Research is hosted by the University of Münster and maintained by the Münster Center for Open Science (MüCOS) and the Framework for Open and Reproducible Research Training (FORRT).
